Ken Watanabe has joined the solid of the upcoming Detective Pikachu film.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed Watanabe will star within the Pokemon spin-off being directed by Goosebumps and Shark Story alum Rob Letterman.
Watanabe’s character is known as Detective Yoshida, and can star alongside Ryan Reynold’s Detective Pikachu, whose role is set to involve some form of motion capture.
The script has already been penned by Guardian’s of the Galaxy screenwriter Nicole Perlman and Gravity Falls’ creator Alex Hirsch.
Ken Watanabe joins the rising solid, which has already discovered its female and male leads.
Justice Smith will take the lead function alongside Kathryn Newton’s Lucy, a journalist with a Psyduck sidekick if Pokemon lore is to be believed.
