H1Z1: King of the Hill’s participant base of the sport has plummeted by 91 p.c since July 2017.
H1Z1’s battle royale mode popularised the style, however with the discharge of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and Fortnite’s battle royale mode, the title has struggled to retain gamers, with GiyHyp reporting the drastic drop in gamers over the past seven months.
The sport’s common King of the Hill mode – available to buy separately alongside the Just Survive mode – managed to make the title the third most-played sport on Steam throughout its heyday, peaking at 150,000 gamers with a mean of 86,000 individuals taking part in per hour.
H1Z1 developer Dawn has beforehand mentioned that “there wouldn’t be a PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds if there wasn’t an H1Z1,” including that the success of PUBG is “creating a chance” for H1Z1 to achieve a wider viewers.
