Now opening in theaters on Could eight, 2020.
Sony’s live-action Barbie film has been delayed for 2 years to 2020.
Variety experiences the movie has been pushed again from August eight, 2018 to Could eight, 2020, with Barbie initially slated to hit theaters on June 29, 2018. Anne Hathaway is anticipated to star after Amy Schumer left the project last March due to scheduling conflicts.
However, Schumer did work on the script, along with Lindsey Beer, Jenny Bicks, Kim Caramele, Diablo Cody, Bert V. Royal, and Hilary Winston. Alethea Jones is directing, with Amy Pascal, Walter F. Parkes, and Laurie MacDonald producing.
Barbie will be similar in style to movies like Splash, Big, and Enchanted, with the main character getting kicked out of Barbieland for not being perfect and ends up going on an adventure in the real world. Sony announced a partnership with Mattel to develop this film again in 2014.
